Privacy policy

In short

MovaDoc processes your files on your own device, inside your browser. Your files are never sent to any server: not ours, not anyone else’s. We don’t see them and we don’t keep them.

We don’t use cookies, advertising or visitor analytics. The only personal data processed is the technical access data our hosting provider needs to show you the site and, if you write to us, your message.

Who is responsible for your data

The joint controllers are Pedro Cirera Dória Roquette de Vasconcelos and Martim Dotti Cardoso Pinto, private individuals based in Lisbon, Portugal.

We decide jointly on the processing described in this policy and answer your requests jointly. You can exercise your rights with either of us, through the same contact: geral@movadoc.com.

The files you use in the tools

When you choose a file, your browser reads it and processes it on your device, with the code it downloaded when you opened the page. The file, its name and its content are never sent to any server.

Files and results stay only in the browser’s memory while the page is open. When you close or reload the page, they are gone. We don’t keep copies.

Passwords for protected PDFs are used only on your device, to open the file, and are not stored anywhere.

We check this with automated tests: while a file is being processed, the site makes no requests over the internet.

Technical access data (hosting on Cloudflare)

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, by Cloudflare, Inc., which acts as our processor. As with any website, to deliver the pages Cloudflare processes technical access data: your IP address, the type and version of your browser and operating system, the page requested, the date and time, and technical request logs.

Purpose: to serve the site and protect it from abuse and attacks.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in providing a website that works and is secure (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Cloudflare never receives your files, their names or what you do with them, because none of that leaves your device. We don’t use this data to identify you, for advertising or for profiling.

This data may be processed outside the European Union, for example in the United States. In that case, the transfer is made with the safeguards provided for in the GDPR, under Cloudflare’s data processing agreement. It is kept only for as long as needed for these purposes. If you write to us

If you write to geral@movadoc.com, we process your email address and what you write in the message, only to reply and deal with the matter. We don’t use it for advertising or newsletters.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Messages are stored with our email provider, which acts as our processor, for as long as needed to deal with the matter.

We don’t need your files to help you: if you send them by email, they no longer stay only on your device.

What is stored only in your browser

Some choices are stored in your browser’s local storage (localStorage), on your device. They are never sent to any server:

• your theme preference (light or dark), if you choose one;
• the recipes you save with “Save as recipe”: the tools and the options of each step, including the text of a watermark if it is part of the recipe (never files or passwords);
• the example recipes you choose to hide.

To delete them: in “My recipes” you can delete each recipe. To delete everything at once, clear this site’s data in your browser settings (for example, under “Clear browsing data” or “Cookies and site data”).

Cookies

MovaDoc doesn’t use cookies: no advertising, analytics or social media cookies, and none to make the site work. That’s why we don’t ask for cookie consent. Only in an exceptional situation (a Cloudflare security check against attacks) may a technical cookie be stored; this is explained in the Cookie policy.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability regarding your personal data.

To exercise any of these rights, write to geral@movadoc.com. We reply within one month at the latest.

Apart from the messages you send us by email, we don’t keep data that identifies you, so we will often have no data about you. The technical access data is processed by Cloudflare on our behalf: if your request concerns that data, we will handle it with Cloudflare.

Complaints to the supervisory authority

If you believe your data is not being processed in accordance with the law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), the Portuguese supervisory authority: www.cnpd.pt. You can also complain to the data protection authority of the country where you live.

Future changes

Today MovaDoc has no ads, no user accounts and no artificial intelligence features. If it ever has any of these, this policy will be updated before they arrive, explaining what data will be processed, why and by whom.

Any change is published on this page, with the date of the last update.
