How it works
Choose the PDFs
Drag one or more files. Numbering follows the list order, which you can change with the arrows; you can also remove any you don’t want.
Choose the format
Type the prefix and suffix, how many digits you want and the starting number. The number goes in the bottom right corner, but you can move it to another field.
Apply and download
You get the numbered PDFs, in a ZIP if there are several. Everything happens on your device.
Frequently asked questions
Are my case documents uploaded to a server?
No. The numbering happens in your browser and your files never leave your device, so you can use it with confidential documents.
Does the numbering carry on across several PDFs?
Yes. The first file starts at the starting number and each following file picks up where the previous one ended (for example, ABC000003 and then ABC000004), in list order.
How many digits should I use?
6 or 8 are the most common. Leading zeros give every number the same length, so they sort correctly. You can choose from 1 to 12.
Can I add other text, such as “Confidential”?
Yes. You can write anything you like in the other header and footer fields, and add the date, the file name or the page number.
What if one of the PDFs has a password?
A PDF that needs a password to open is left out, and the numbering carries on with the next file. Unlock it first with “Unlock PDF” and number them all again.
