Frequently asked questions
Is my file or my signature uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF and your signature are handled in your browser and never leave your device. Your signature is only kept in this browser if you click “Save this signature in this browser”, and you can delete it whenever you like.
Is this signature legally valid?
It’s a simple electronic signature: an image of your signature placed on the PDF, like signing a sheet of paper and scanning it. It works for many everyday documents, but it isn’t a qualified or certified digital signature (such as one made with a qualified digital certificate) and it doesn’t prove your identity. If a document requires a qualified signature, check with whoever asked for it. If the PDF already has a digital signature (for example, from someone else), it will no longer be valid in the file you download: MovaDoc warns you first.
Can I sign with my finger on a phone?
Yes. In “Draw”, sign with your finger, a pen or a mouse. If you prefer, type your name and pick one of three handwriting styles, or upload a photo of your signature: “Remove white background” leaves only the ink.
Can I put the signature on several pages?
Yes. Under “Apply to”, choose this page, all pages or only some (for example 1, 3-5). The signature goes in the same spot on each one. You can also add the date below it.
Will the signature look sharp when printed?
Yes. The signature goes into the PDF as a high-resolution image, so it stays sharp on screen and on paper. A drawn or typed signature has a transparent background; for an uploaded image, the paper only becomes transparent with “Remove white background” on.
