How it works
Choose the two PDFs
First the fronts, then the backs. If they’re the wrong way around, use “Swap order”.
Check the order
If the backs were scanned from last to first, check “Reverse the order of the second PDF”. The “Order” line shows how it will look.
Download the result
The interleaved PDF is created on your device and downloaded. The originals aren’t changed.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to any server?
No. The PDFs are interleaved in your browser and never leave your device.
Why would I interleave two PDFs?
When a scanner only reads one side of the paper, you scan all the fronts first and then all the backs. You end up with two PDFs, and this tool combines them in the right order: front 1, back 1, front 2, back 2…
When should I use “Reverse the order of the second PDF”?
When you flip the stack over to scan the backs, they usually come out from last to first: the back of the last sheet comes first. With this option, the second PDF is used in reverse. The “Order” line shows the result before you create the PDF.
What if the PDFs have different page counts?
Pages alternate while both PDFs have pages left, and the extra pages from the longer PDF go at the end, in order. For example, with 3 fronts and 2 backs: front 1, back 1, front 2, back 2, and front 3.
Can I interleave more than two PDFs?
No, this tool uses exactly two. To combine several PDFs one after another, use “Merge PDF”. To reorder individual pages, use “Organize PDF”.
