Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The images are processed in your browser and never leave your device. It also works offline once the page has loaded.
How much smaller will the images get?
It depends on the image. Phone photos usually get much smaller; already compressed images barely change. In that case, we tell you and give you the original.
Why does a PNG barely shrink?
PNG is lossless, so there’s no quality to lower. Reduce the dimensions, or convert photos to JPG with “Convert image”.
Will I notice the difference?
At 75% or more, hardly ever. Compare the two versions side by side before downloading.
Does the photo location stay in the file?
No. Metadata (GPS location, camera model, date) is removed. The orientation is applied to the image itself, so photos always come out upright.
